What’s up with the other ver? I think it looks better but I’m not a fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! so Idk if the different color means anything. (I’m looking at it as a gift for someone.) What would a Black Magician fan prefer?Basically, the violet Black Magician is Yugi's signature monster. His human counterpart, Mahad, was a priest and a loyal servant to Pharaoh Atem.
The red Black Magician is used by the villain Arcana. Arcana ends up sacrificing his BM, which in turn powers up Yugi's Black Magician Girl, who becomes strong enough to defeat him.
If your friend is a fan of Yami Yugi/Atem, Yugi, Black Magician Girl, and/or the color purple, he's the anime original and should be your pick. If your friend loves villains and already has a BM figure, maybe the red would be a unique addition to their collection? idk i hope that's helpful ha ha
